Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a martial art and combat sport that focuses on grappling and especially ground fighting with the goal of gaining a dominant position. It promotes the principle that a smaller, weaker person using leverage and proper technique can successfully defend against a bigger, stronger assailant.

At Knuckleup Fitness, our instructors are leading Brazilian Jiu Jitsu fighters with more than 150 years of combined experience. Most of them have black belts in this martial arts style. A cornerstone of successful mixed-martial arts training, BJJ teaches students ground fighting and the ability to:

  1. Learn to gain a dominant position and secure a submission
  2. Use your weight to your advantage (no matter how big or small you are)
  3. Utilize pivot points on your opponents body for a take down.
